Anthony Bourdain was known and loved for his global explorations of the culinary world. He introduced us to cultures and cuisines that we knew little about, both domestic and international. He did so with honesty, integrity, and humor.

Stephen Cuomo, the founder and executive producer of Santa Fe Fashion Week, is doing for fashion what Anthony Bourdain did for food. He’s bringing to our attention talented, emerging fashion designers and providing Bourdain-like insights into their creative process.

“Fashion, or to be in fashion, can mean so many things, from an individual standpoint to a cultural statement. Often times these pieces we adorn each day has a story behind it. I want to share that story.”

Stephen’s recent appearance with Kris Lajeskie on Albuquerque’s KRQE TV station gave us insight into Katherine Story, a very talented and unique Southern California designer (https://www.katharinestory.com/).

The television appearance and subsequent Vlog highlighted two of Katherine’s New Mexico inspired, hand-made outfits and provided us with a look behind the designs (https://youtu.be/bQTaYMvPynQ).

Stephen also introduced us to Kris Lajeskie’s’ Santa Fe boutique “World of Bohemia”.

The boutique celebrates the nomadic lifestyle and features hand-made products personally selected by Kris. For her, the story of the artisan is very important and is what separates the World of Bohemia from other boutiques.

Like Anthony Bourdain, Stephen’s focus is global. A recent Vlog featured an interview with Asif Shaikh, an emerging, talented designer from India.

Asif explained his design philosophy and provided interesting details on how his fabrics are made and dyed. https://youtu.be/teGC0J16Kzs
